Dr Timothy Hanrahan

Dr Timothy Hanrahan is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who enjoys managing a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders. He has a special interest in liver disease, including cirrhosis and autoimmune conditions.

About

Dr Timothy Hanrahan completed his medical training at the University of Queensland. In addition to his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, he was awarded a research-based Master of Philosophy. He subsequently completed his basic physician and gastroenterology training in Melbourne, primarily at the Austin Hospital and Victorian liver transplant unit. He also trained at the Box Hill Hospital, Eastern Health. Upon completion of this he undertook an advanced hepatology and liver transplant fellowship with the Scottish liver transplant unit at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Scotland.

He currently holds a public appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital alongside his private clinical work at Greenslopes Private Hospital. In addition to his clinical commitments he has published original research and review articles in multiple international peer-reviewed journals, and continues to be actively involved in clinical research.

Outside of work he enjoys playing guitar, travelling with his family and eating delicious food.
